How to create PowerPoint presentations from Microsoft Project plans
How much time do you spend trying to export your Microsoft Project plans to PowerPoint for presentations? Are you satisfied with the results?
Stop wasting time transferring your project to PowerPoint and let OnePager Pro do the work for you. In a matter of minutes, OnePager Pro takes your existing project plan from Microsoft Project and builds Gantt charts that are perfect for PowerPoint presentations.
OnePager Pro is a Microsoft Project add-in, so you can launch it directly from Microsoft Project without having to export your data.
Here's how it works:
- Open your Microsoft Project plan. OnePager Pro can present one individual project or several projects at once, but this walkthrough will demonstrate a single project presentation.
- If your project plan is lengthy, you might want to only include parts of it in your PowerPoint presentation. To filter specific tasks or milestones, insert a flag column (Flag 20 in this example) into your Microsoft Project plan and place a "Yes" next to the tasks you want to present in PowerPoint. You can use different flags to create different PowerPoint presentations from the same underlying Microsoft Project plan:

- Click the OnePager Pro button on your Microsoft Project toolbar or Add-Ins tab. If you don't have OnePager Pro, you can download a 15-day free trial.
- OnePager Pro will launch and ask you to name your project view. In this example, we called it "BlueGrass Project - PowerPoint Presentation". This screen also allows you to choose which flag field you want to use to import your Microsoft Project data into OnePager Pro. You can also specify a Snapshot (or status) date of your project plan. In this example, we'll use today's date:

- Click the Create new project view button. You will immediately get a project presentation slide that is ready for PowerPoint:

- From here, all you need to do is copy and paste from OnePager Pro into PowerPoint and you will be ready for your presentation!
If you'd like to customize your OnePager Pro chart before pasting it into PowerPoint, you'll find that it's very easy to do:
- Automatically group or color-code by resources, project phase, or any other Microsoft Project data
- Change colors, symbols, fonts and layouts
- Show baseline dates, percent complete, or critical path
- Add comment boxes, text boxes, or images to your project presentation
Best of all, OnePager will save you hours of time and frustration every week, and saves you the hassle of updating your presentation each time your project changes.
